12 Feb | Global Perspectives Initiative: Interview with Vice President Fritz Grobien

Fritz Grobien, Vice President of the Bremen Cotton Exchange, took part in the event „Global Perspectives Salon“. Under the headline “Made in Africa” examples of best practice between sustainable and profitable business activity in cotton related economics were presented and discussed. Keynote speaker of the evening was Prof. Michael Otto, chairman of the board of the Otto Group, who has been engaged in creating fair working conditions and a sustainable production environment in the textile sector, especially through the initiative Cotton made in Africa (CmiA).

In this interview Fritz Grobien explains the significance of cotton farming, especially for people in poorer regions of the world. Cotton cultivation in Africa in particular could benefit enormously from increased yields through modern cultivation methods. Fritz Grobien also emphasizes the importance of building value chains in Africa.

The GP Salon is part of the series on “Economy as part of the solution” and is organised by the Global Perspectives Initiative (GPI) in cooperation with the Ministry on Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
